History
Project RStreams was born in the summer of 2017, although the idea had been brewing in the mind for a long time.
The main originator and founder of the project is NightPurrer.
In the early years, Milka also contributed actively to its development, editing, and monitoring the stream updates.
Initially (Until 2019), the folder was shared through BT Sync (Currently Resilio).
Initially, we shared the BT Sync folder key with people following our Twitter accounts and a few friends.
The initial idea was to share a folder with files of Polish stations, but when we found streams from foreign broadcasters, we decided to expand our activities to other countries. This form lasted for over a year.
For various reasons, the database was abandoned in 2018.
In January 2019, a discussion about radio streams appeared on the Elten Link portal forum, in which I actively participated. I then decided to reactivate the folder and move it to the Dropbox platform as requested by users.
The old folder was messy and needed to be organized, so we all spent a lot of time fixing non-functional streams, organizing it, and cleaning it up.
At that time, we also discussed launching a website, which started in March.
In July, we announced an improved subpage with a list of stations, including a search engine and several other features. For a short time, a test server based on HFS software on Windows was operational. Unfortunately, the application did not work on Unix systems (on Linux), so we were still looking for another solution.
Since the beginning of August 2019, due to the inability to improve the site, we stopped updating it, and its activity was ultimately suspended in late summer.
On January 7, 2020, we announced its return. It was supposed to reappear on the Internet by the end of the month, but the launch was delayed.
We finally returned on May 25, 2020.
On October 12, 2020, we released the site in Polish language version.
We also planned to create subpages in other languages, including Russian.
In May 2021, the concept of Monthly updates appeared to provide you with always up-to-date radio station streams.
In November, we provided a faster option to download the database with a single click. Just find the appropriate link in the service menu.
On February 20, 2023, finally after many years of promises and waiting, a stream search engine appeared on the website.
At the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023, we also introduced a list of Polish radio stations in an M3u file in the IP TV grouping convention, which is divided into categories and parses nicely, for example, in the DVB viewer program.
At the end of August, we launched our Telegram channel, so you no longer have to join the Dropbox folder to receive updates on the database.
There are shortcomings, issues with streams, forgetting to update information in all places, but we do it as a hobby, and the original author still manages some of the infrastructure. Therefore, please forgive any irregularities in the operation of RStreams services. Remember that when you encounter an error, you can report it to us in the appropriate form available in the menu at the top :).
